WEST VIRGINIA TRUCKING ASSOCIATION ENDORSES CAPITO

CHARLESTON, WV – The Capito for West Virginia campaign announces Senator Shelley Moore Capito received the endorsement of the West Virginia Trucking Association.

“We are pleased to support Senator Shelley Moore Capito in her campaign for reelection to the U.S. Senate. From her first days in Congress, Senator Capito has been a champion for increased federal funding to improve our highways and build our infrastructure,” said Traci Nelson, President. “Our members travel the highways across the state on a daily basis. Senator Capito’s efforts to improve the roadways have made our members and the traveling public safer. We need her to continue fighting for us in the Senate.”

Senator Capito released the following statement, “I appreciate the support of the members of the West Virginia Trucking Association. When I was first elected to the House, Route 35 was one of the most dangerous roads in the country,” said Capito. “I worked hard to provide federal funding to widen the road. My commitment to improved roadway safety has carried with me throughout my time in Congress. Leveraging our federal tax dollars to expand our roadways is not only good for the economy, it also helps make roads safer for the driving public.”

ABOUT THE WEST VIRGINIA TRUCKING ASSOCIATION

The Association was formed in 1932 to improve highway safety and educate the public about the importance and economic value of trucking and transportation across our state. Their more than 150 members are comprised of private fleet operators, industry suppliers and other companies. The non-profit represents both private and public companies. Trucking accounts for some 70% of all freight travel in the state.

Senator Capito filed for a second term earlier this month. The West Virginia Trucking Association joins HuntPAC, the West Virginia Healthcare Association, West Virginia Automobile and Truck Dealers Association, West Virginia Manufacturers Association and ABC West Virginia in supporting Capito’s reelection. Capito has previously been endorsed by Ambassador Nikki Haley, Congressman David McKinley, Congressman Alex Mooney, Congresswoman Carol Miller, Auditor JB McCuskey, Agriculture Commissioner Kent Leonhardt and Attorney General Patrick Morrisey. The overwhelming majority of the Republican members of the state legislature, led by Senate President Mitch Carmichael and Speaker Roger Hanshaw, offered their support to Capito’s reelection campaign. Republican National Committee Members, Kayla Kessinger and Larry Pack, are backing Capito. The West Virginia Federation of College Republicans was the first group to endorse Capito after she announced her reelection campaign earlier this year.
