We live in the greatest state in the greatest country in the world. West Virginians are proud of our heritage and our strong traditions of family and freedom.
I look forward to spending this Thanksgiving weekend with my family – especially my 6 grandchildren with 1 on the way. Their energy and enthusiasm for life inspires me and reminds me of the importance of being thankful for what I have.
America has proven through the generations to be the land of freedom and for that each of us should be grateful. While our current politics may seem full of division, the things that bond us as a country are still far greater. Our free market economic system still provides opportunity for each of us. It is the bond that carries us forward as Americans.
West Virginia was founded as a free state during the most divisive time in our nation. We value freedom and have the courage to stand up and fight for it. I’m ready for the fight for freedom that lies ahead in 2020. I’m also hopeful that we hold an election that focuses on the best ideas to move us forward and not one that seeks to divide us.
As we take time over the Thanksgiving weekend to give thanks, Charlie and I want to wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving.
With thanks,
Shelley Moore Capito
